Jennifer Sherwood, a native of Narragansett, Rhode Island, has been the Executive Director of Turtle Bay Music School since 2005. Prior to that time, she was Turtle Bay's Director of Development & Marketing. Jennifer has over 15 years of arts administration experience. She has worked with a variety of not-for-profit arts organizations including The Philadelphia Orchestra, Pennsylvania Ballet, Chorus America, The Center for Arts Education and Young Audiences/New York. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Rhode Island and a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy & Literature from the University of Texas at Austin. (Back to top)

Prior to joining Turtle Bay, Katie served as Administrator of the James Renwick Alliance – the support group of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Since receiving her BA in Arts and Cultural Management from American University, Katie has spent many years working in arts management in the Washington, DC area, from managing a local music venue, to interning with the Education Department of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She is thrilled to be able to combine her love of music and passion for education at Turtle Bay. (Back to top)

A graduate of Crane School of Music SUNY at Potsdam with a BS degree in Music Education (flute major), she combined her love of music and a strong business background (General Manager of a Ford & Mercury dealership & Manager of all concessions at Snow Ridge Ski Area) when joining the Turtle Bay Administrative team first as registrar for 11 years and then as Business Manager in 2001. Raised in upstate New York on Lake Ontario, she pursues her interests in music, archaeology, maple syrup production, and sailing. Believing that perspectives and abilities grow through music and musical experiences, Pam enjoys her part in the community of music and music making at Turtle Bay Music School. (Back to top)

A trained opera singer and violinist, Karin studied at Indiana University, Trinity College of Music in London, and Manhattan School of Music, Where she obtained her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees is Voice. She received Orff Certification from Montclair State College and went onto graduate studies in Music Therapy at New York University. She has participated in many music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, Blossom Music Festival, and Chautauqua Music Festival. (Back to top)

Grace holds a double BA in Music and Psychology from Swarthmore College and an MM in Piano Performance from Temple University. Her principal teachers have been Charles Abramovic for piano, and Gerald Levinson and Thomas Whitman for composition. She has studied film scoring with Emmy Award-winning composer Michael Patterson. She has lived and worked in NYC since 2001, and as pianist/composer, has developed a special affinity for artistic collaboration of all forms. (Back to top)

A native of Caldwell, NJ, Matthew Dell is a conductor, tubist, and tenor. He recently received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Yale University where he studied conducting with James Sinclair and Jeffrey Douma, and tuba with Toby Hanks. At Yale he was assistant conductor of the Saybrook College Orchestra and undergraduate assistant conductor of the Yale Glee Club, of which he was the tenor section leader. He has conducted orchestra, choirs, and opera, including a concert of the works of PDQ Bach. Conducting studies have taken him to Kenneth Kiesler's Conductor's Retreat at Medomak in Maine, the Bard Conductors Institute with Harold Farberman, and the University of Kentucky, among others. As a tenor he has sung under Helmut Rilling, Sir Neville Mariner, Sir David Wilcox, Krystof Penderecki, and Judith Clurman. He was the tubist for the New Haven-based brass quintet, Brass, for four years. Summers have found him working as a counselor and head counselor at New England Music Camp in Maine. A native of Houston, Texas, Maryam received her BA in English Literature as a John C. Kluge Scholar from Columbia University in 2005. As a musician she was a recipient of the Richard & Brooke Kamin Rapaport Fellowship and Robert Emmett Dolan Prize from the university and has attended music festivals including Fontainebleau, ENCORE, and the Orford Arts Centre. Maryam co-founded and managed the chamber string ensemble fourbythree with other Columbia and Juilliard musicians, served as Student Coordinator for the Columbia Music Performance Program, and has interned with the American Festival for the Arts and Foundation for Contemporary Arts. She also doubles as a freelance violist and writer, and especially enjoys working with contemporary composers. (Back to top)

Jacquelyn Pinsky holds a Master's degree from New York University and a Bachelors degree from Ithaca College, both in violin performance. Her orchestral credits include concertmaster for the New York University Opera Orchestra, principal second for the New York University Symphony Orchestra, assistant concertmaster for the Ithaca College Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, as well as conductor of orchestra and vocalists for the Windsor Youth Theater in Windsor, Connecticut. She has participated in The Hartt School Suzuki Institute Teacher Training Workshops in West Hartford, Connecticut. Jackie is also a member of Turtle Bay Music School's violin faculty. Julie Rulyak has served as Turtle Bay Music School's Development and Marketing Manager since 2005. Prior to working with Turtle Bay Music School, Julie acted as Managing Director of Cynthia Glacken Associates, a leader in not-for-profit communications strategy and design. Deeply committed to the growth of community music, Julie has also worked as an intern with Third Street Music School Settlement and the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts while developing curriculum for a Community Music Education Master's Degree Program at New York University. Julie holds a B.M., summa cum laude, and M.A. from New York University's Steinhardt School for Culture, Education and Human Development. (Back to top)

A native of New Rochelle, New York, Jonathan Sirlin received his Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Music from Wesleyan University. He was the recipient of the Gwen Livingston Pokora prize, an award given annually to an outstanding undergraduate student in music composition. Jonathan studied composition under Neely Bruce and Alvin Lucier during his years at college. He was also both an active member of and general manager for the Wesleyan University Orchestra, playing both violin and percussion in addition to managerial duties. Jonathan was the Assistant Head Boys Counselor at New England Music Camp, where he studied conducting and composition under Leon Gregorian. Jonathan currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and is a guitarist for Red Wire Black Wire, an indie-rock pop band that plays throughout New York City and the Northeast United States. (Back to top)

Joanna Sirlin received a Bachelors and Masters of Music in Viola Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with Stanley Konopka and Lynne Ramsey and was awarded the Marie Horace Award in Viola. She also received a Bachelor of the Arts in English from Case Western Reserve University. She has participated in such festivals as Music Academy of the West, National Repertory Orchestra, Encore School for Strings, and Aspen Music Festival and has played with orchestras such as the Phoenix Symphony, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, and the Atlantic Classical Orchestra among others. A native of New Rochelle, Joanna currently performs in New York in the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, the Westchester Chamber Orchestra, Chelsea Symphony, and Beauvoir String Quartet. She also trained in Suzuki Pedagogy with Kimberley Meier-Sims at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She is on faculty at Turtle Bay Music School as a Suzuki and Traditional Violin and Viola Teacher. Cody Brown, a native of Farmingdale, Maine, holds a bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance from Purchase College, where he was a student of the renowned drum-educator, John Riley. He has also studied privately with master drummers, Jeff Ballard, Kenny Washington, and Han Bennink. In 2007, Cody was invited to attend the prestigious Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music, directed by Dave Douglas. Cody divides his time between performing, teaching, and composing. Over the years, he has had the honor of playing with Herbie Hancock, Dave Douglas, Miguel Zenón, Kermit Driscoll, Michael Moore, Ernst Glerum, Tobias Delius, Thomas Heberer, Frank Carlberg, Sam Newsome, Bobby Avey, and many others.
