A gentle first step toward becoming a Suzuki violin student. Children work with box violins created by their teacher, and work with real violins provided by TBMS at the end of camp.

Morning and Afternoon Classes

These play-oriented classes emphasize movement and singing, as well as introduce age appropriate pitched and non-pitched instruments. Children learn to recognize musical symbols and note patterns.
Maximum enrollment is 6 students per class.

Children are now ready to explore rhythm, pitch, melody and note reading in a more in-depth and independent setting.

K - 1ST grade
Children learn to create music in small instrumental ensembles. Music games focus on note recognition, rhythmic training, and solfege.

Children create two, three and four part orchestrations using traditional Orff instruments, recorders, stringed instruments and a variety of non-pitched instruments.

with Nick Birmelin
Learn to play rhythms and instruments of Afro/Brazilian percussion.
Percussionist Nick Birmelin will introduce the fundamental techniques of playing with hands and sticks using the various percussion instruments (congas/hand drums, bells, shakers, pandeiro/tambourine). This class covers various rhythms from Brazil and the Caribbean while encouraging improvisation and musical exploration. This all inclusive group drumming environment is conducive to involved participation regardless of age or experience level. Family Drumming allows you to be an active participant in your child’s musical development.
