About: Hannah Min
Instrument you teach: Violin
Do you play any other instrument in your spare time? I’ve dabbled in piano, viola, and flute, but alas – I’m a one instrument kind of girl.
Bachelor of Music Performance from University of Toronto
Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music
Where are you from? Born in Seoul, South Korea but mostly raised in Toronto, Canada
Favorite age group to teach: Every age is interesting!
Favorite style of music to teach: Classical
Favorite song: So many great songs, but Blackbird by The Beatles is definitely up there.
Favorite piece of music: It’s always changing, but Prokofiev’s Violin Sonate and Concerti have a special place in my heart.
Favorite food: French fries and oysters…but not necessarily together.
Favorite color: Yellow
Do you have any pets? (Describe them!) Tommy! The silliest cat you’ll ever meet. He loves finding little nooks (the smaller the better) and always keeps things interesting with random “crazy times.” Just looking at him makes me laugh.
What’s your favorite musical memory? Plácido Domingo singing me “Happy Birthday!!”
What do you like best about teaching music? Every day is different, and I love that I’m always learning something new from my students.
Who is your favorite composer or musician? Composers would have to be a three-way tie between Prokofiev, Shostakovich, and Brahms. Musicians – David Oistrakh and Lynn Harrell.
What was the first piece of music you ever learned? Probably “Twinkle”
How many hours a day do you practice? It varies
How long have you been at TBMS? Since 2014
