Do you have a pet? (Describe them) My mom has three cats: Eleanor, Abigail, and Madelyn. They are gray, black, and white (respectively), but I have no pets here in New York.
What’s your favorite musical memory? The night before my very first guitar lesson I was so nervous that I practiced all night, even though I had never played before. Looking back, I’m proud of myself for doing that, and I actually remember some of what I practiced!
What do you like best about teaching music? I enjoy learning from my students as well as sharing my passion with them. Music is one of the few things in my life that gets me really excited, so I really like encouraging others on the path to discovering it!
What is your favorite composer or musician? Freddie Hubbard, one of the best trumpet players of all time!
What is the first piece of music you ever learned? “Free ‘N Easy” by Uriah Heep
How many hours a day do you practice? Totally varies, sometimes thirty minutes, sometimes several hours, but it is really important to play every day!
Accomplishments: I have had the good fortune of appearing at many of NYC’s well-known music venues, most notably Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, The Iridium Jazz Club, The Highline Ballroom, Cornelia Street Cafe, Joe’s Pub, Sullivan Hall, and Rockwood Music Hall. I also play gospel, rock, and inspirational music every Sunday morning at Hill of the Lord Ministries in Brooklyn.
Fun Facts: I am addicted to crossword puzzles. I try to do at least one every day! I love seltzer water. I have no idea why…
